The Help
Change begins with a whisper is right. This applies to life too. If you want something to change you have to do something about it not just sit back and wait for someone else to do it.

First I want to say this might be one of my favorite books I've read not only this summer but ever. It is funny and interesting. I LOVED IT. It will also be a movie out August 12th. CAN'T WAIT! EKK!


Okay so here is the back story. Mrs. Skeeter is not the cutest girl in the world... kinda lanky frizzy curly hair. You can picture her can't you? If not here is her in the movie. 

She is also very smart( duh in books the smart one is always not that pretty but we love her even more because of it.) But she wants to be a writer. She goes to college with the intentions of going to college to become a writer not to find a husband like all of her friends. Her mom isn't pleased with this but that makes you love Skeeter even more. She is her own person in a society of clones. Oh I forgot to mention its based in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1950s. Where everyone is married by 20 and kids by 21. And has  a perfect house. Her mother who she doesn't really get along with because she didn't raise her. Oh that's something else I forgot mothers don't raise their children... the help does. The help are colored women who do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! Here is a picture from the movie of Skeeter and her mom. ( you'll have to read the book to finds out what happens there....) 

Then there are Skeeters best friends....

Hilly. She is a bitch. Seriously. This is about how she treats her Help like crap and makes her do EVERYTHING. She also has the bright idea that they shouldn't use their bathroom and makes people start putting bathrooms outside for the help. Their other best friend Elizabeth Leefolt has a daughter who she is awful to. Her Help is Aibileen she loves loves loves that little girl. Things hit the fan when she makes Aibileen use a bathroom outside. One of Aibileen's friends is Minny she is a wild one. She will talk back to anyone and tell them just how she is feelings. She was fired from Hilly's mothers house. She does something to get back at Ms. Hilly that is AMAZING!! but she goes to work for a crazy lady who is married to Hilly's ex boyfriend. So of course Hilly HATES her.  She isn't really crazy just kind of depressed and a lot of stuff happens to her.

Well Skeeter decides she has had enough and wants to write a book that will change things. So she asks Aibileen. At first she says no then she changes her mind. Then she gets lots of other HELP to tell their stories too. The good, the bad and the AWFUL. This was something that had never been done before until now. 

I'm not going to tell you the rest of what happens because you need to read the book. People fall in love, lose friends, gain friends, get new jobs, break up, and move on. This books shows that. That life goes on. You need to do everything you can so you have no regrets.And don't let the bitch win. ha Its  an awesome book. really.
