history

in case you didn't know this I love history. I especially love things about the Holocaust. I know it was a tragic tragic event but something about it is so interesting. So when I stumbled across this book I knew I just had to read it. Sarah's Key.

 It is about a small girl who was Jewish and lived in Paris (not Germany) The Paris police came and got her family in the middle of the night. During all the chaos Sarah told her little brother to hide in the small hidden cupboard that locked and that she would be back to get them. As you know she didn't because she had to go to a camp. They took them to a coliseum type building and they stayed in awful conditions. Then they took them to a camp where they took the fathers first then the mothers. Every Father and mother that left that camp died. They left the children at the camp and that's where Sarah escaped. Then in flashes to now and this lady is told to write a story about how the French police made over 2000 people go to camps in France not Germany. As she is doing research she discovers that her family has something to do with the things that happened that night to all the Jews. The rest of the book is about Sarah's life after the camp and the lady's life and everyone in it. You will need to read the book to find out what else happens. It is a very moving story about love, lost, and finding yourself. It is really a great book and a pretty quick read. It also is a movie that is coming out next month. Needless to say I will be seeing that movie as soon as it comes out!!

I have got to stop waiting so long in between posts!

I finally read a new book!! This is a very big deal because for the past like 2 months I have been in a book slump. I read two great books this summer and I was scared to read another one because I didn't think I would love anything as much as I loved those books. Well I finally found one!! Always Something There to Remind Me by Beth Harbison.  

It is about a women who never really gets over her high school sweetheart. Yes, she moves on with her life and has a child, dates, and has a wonderful job. But when her boyfriend proposes to her, her first thought is of her high school boyfriend (who she hasn't seen in 20 years and had an AWFUL breakup). The book goes back and forth to from past to present and you really understand the characters. Of course she runs into her old boyfriend and that's when things really get good! Read to find out! This book does a great job capturing what its like to lose your first love and how you feel like the world is ending! This book was funny, sweet, sad and had a great ending. It was a book that you really didn't know what was going to happen. You knew what  you wanted to happen but not what would happen. There were so many turns and loops. It was just great! I love books that get you thinking about your own life and this was a book that did it. During the whole book I was thinking about old memories and little things about my life.It also reminds you that you can't live in the past. You have to live in the present and look towards the future. It was an amazing book and it was just what I needed to get me out of my funk. It was just a fun, easy read and I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone. 

I have decided that I'm still not ready to just start reading again so I am going to reread one of my favorite series. Queen of Babble. I'll let you know how it goes.

Woah so I haven't blogged in like over a month sorry! I've been busy! 

My favorite show came back on last night.... GOSSIP GIRL!!!! It came back with a bang! It had to considering they left off with Blair with the stupid prince Louis and not Chuck and that someone is preggers!!!! If you didn't watch it last night then you missed out!!! SPOILER! Blair is PREGNANT!!!! and it has to be Chucks baby!!!!! This makes me soooo happy!!!!!!!!!!

 I never thought I could love someone as much as I loved Pacey (Joshua Jackson in Dawson's Creek)

 Him and his partner Diane Kruger are my all time favorite couple ever! They are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! and perfect together! They are just so pretty. I love love love them!

and Seth Cohen ( Adam Brody in the O.C.) Him and Summer (Rachel Bilson) are my favorite TV couple ever!!! They are so cute and quirky! just love them! ( they were real life couple for a while but not anymore!!)

 Rachel Bilson has a new show that comes on after Gossip girl!

 The Heart of Dixie. It is good! She is a doctor that moves from NYC to Alabama. ha its cute and just a fun show. Watch it! but Chuck Bass has done it!!! He is my favorite! I love him so much and I get so mad when him and Blair aren't together!!! They are meant to be!

I just love him. He is so sweet but at the same time a bad ass. PERFECTION!  This is one of my favorite shows. It really is good! Everyone should watch it!! 

I read the books back in the day and the show isn't really any thing like them. The first season has a lot of the same story lines but it hasn't really had any since then. The books are a great teen read though. 

In this season Nate is with ANOTHER older woman ( Elizabeth Hurley) The fashion is going to be amazing just like always!

 and Serena, Nate, and Chuck are all in LA. And all seem like they are growing up and very happy!

 (Chuck still loves Blair though he can't hide it!) Blair is in New York with Prince Louie and still engaged and also seems grown up.... not as much as the other ones though

Dont get me wrong I like Prince Louie but he just isn't right for Blair! and like I said before Blair is pregnant and the last person she slept with was.... CHUCK!!!! Blair is getting ready for her wedding but she keeps butting heads with Louie's mother ( she isn't Blair's biggest fan). Also Vanessa and Jenny aren't coming back this season which I'm not complaining about because I don't really care for them!

I can't wait to see what all happens this season it is starting out to be GOOD!

hello hello hello!

Things in my life and my friends life are changing big time!

I'll start with the little things I went to see a movie by myself yesterday. I went to see the help and I LOVED IT! It's not like I couldn't find anyone to go with me because I did but I have always wanted to go to the movies by myself which is very odd because if you know me you know I'm not very independent. but this is something that has always been on my bucket list. So i did it and LOVED IT! It was very liberating. ha back to the movie though. It too was amazing! One of the best books turned into a movie that I've ever seen. They stayed very close to the book actually I don't think they added anything. Which is good. But this was a very good experience and I will be seeing another movie by myself and I think everyone should too.

Next I AM GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!! In case you didn't know I have been working since December. I hate my job. I have wanted to go back to school this whole time but was just kind of nervous/ scared. Well me hating my job won me over!! So I'm back. I am going to Shelton and taking 4 classes. I'm still pretty nervous about failing but I think I can do it. I am aiming at making all A's. Which is something I have never done before in college. So lets hope for the best. Also I have decided to go back into education. I have changed my major like 100 times but I was the happiest in education because I am very good with kids. so yep I want to be a 1st grade teacher and work with the children that need me. Basically I want to work in the poor schools.

Next my friends... Tons of GREAT things are happening in my friends lives. Two of my best friends from high school are getting married this fall. Both of them are moving to Birmingham ( which sucks but I'm happy for them) Beth who is getting married in November just got a job as a High School Math teacher in Birmingham. She has already moved up there. She also has a blog which I think you should READ!! 

Kristy also got a job in Birmingham but is commuting until she gets married in December. We are actually going to try on bridesmaid dresses today! Lindsay one o my other best friends just got a job in Madison as a PE teacher. This is big for her she has been looking for a job and finally got one! She will be the best teacher!! I actually went to visit lindsay last weekend in Decatur! It was so much fun just getting to hangout with her. It sucks having your best friend live 3 hours away!!

Mary Catherine!!! She is going to Honduras next week! This is going to be such an amazing life changing experience and I am so very jealous!!! Mary also lives 2 hours away which also sucks!!! I miss my best friends!!! Jessica one of my other friends just went to Bermuda! I am so jealous of this and most of her life!! She has had a very eventful summer and has talked about it all on her blog that you should also READ! 

My other best friend from high school is PREGNANT!!!! which I am super pumped about! She got married last summer and how has a baby boy on the way! soo pretty much everyone in my life ( including me) have wonderful things happening in their lives. I am so very grateful for all my my friends and the people close to me. I really am very lucky!

I know this is a very random post ha but I usually don't like changes but I am so excited about what God is doing in my life and I cant wait to see how it all turns out! So be the person you wish to be by changing. No matter what!!

When I don't talk about a book I like to leave you with a song. My new favorite song ( probably along with everyone else) is Badmeetsevil Lighters. If you didn't know I LOVE EMINEM!! One of my dreams is to go see him in concert. Which I will do I don't care if I am 25 or 40.  I will see him!!! I have loved him since high school and I am glad he is finally getting the awards he deserves. ha

so I put the one with lyrics because if you are like me and Mary we like to learn the words to rap songs. ha but this one is pretty hard.

Just a few things that make me happy. We all need that daily reminder sometimes....

 haha this made me laugh. Because its soo true. Books are always better. But it doesn't mean the movie was bad.

 I'm sure most girls have this fear but mine is extreme. I can tell you the last time I wore every dress in my closet and if it was a good or bad night. ha weird I KNOW!

girl on fire

There is really no way I can put into words how good the hunger games are. There are 3 books: Hunger games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. All 3 equally different but equally GREAT!! I know I usually say how the book I read was one of my favorites and I’m going to say that again for this one. THIS WAS THE BEST SERIES!!!! I guess I say it because I get so passionate and caught up in the book it makes me forget about everything else I’ve read but it will be VERY HARD to beat this book. I read all 3 books in 4 days. The only reason it didn’t take 3 is because I couldn’t read Monday. I haven’t been able to put them down. I would get to a point where I could stop but then all I could think about is what happened to Petta! (He’s my favorite)  These books are AMAZING!

Back story

Katniss ( played by Jennifer Lawrence)  is a girl from district 12. She has a best friend named Gale and a sister named Prim. Prim is chosen to go into the Hunger games (a punishment for all 12 districts for trying to over throw the Capital many years ago. In the games 2 children from the age of 12 to 18 are picked one boy one girl to fight to the death in an arena with 22 other children). At this point Katniss steps in a goes into the games for her sister. This is where everything gets intense!!! If you are confused read the books I promise they are worth it.

Okay here I am going to just talk about things from the books I loved and didn’t so don’t read it if you haven’t read the books.

Petta I LOVE him. I love how he cares for Katniss and how not very many things surprise her and he always does. He is my favorite and it only makes me love him more by who’s playing him in the movies ( Josh Hutcherson ) It kills me in book 3 when the capitol has brainwashed him and he hates Katniss. Literally it’s so hard to read because you just love them so much and you are pulling for them. It is so sad when she thinks he sees her the way she sees herself has an unhappy person but like most books it all works out in the end.

In the first book Petta confesses his love for Katniss who has no idea. They had a meeting briefly when they were little and Petta saved Katniss life but they never spoke to each other until he got picked to go to the hunger games with her. Then he confessed his love and he swore to save her. To help her make it out alive for her to be the one winner. But this year there was 2 winners because they would rather die than have to kill the other one. I hate how Katniss doubts her love for Petta and says she was just playing a part. If you were reading the same book I was you could tell she wasn’t playing a part. She truly grew to love him. He made her a better person.

Gale ( played by Liam Hemsworth) is Katniss best friend. They secretly hunt together almost every day and sell food to the hob to keep their family alive. When Katniss goes away he takes care of her family. He secretly loves her and she loves him but she also love Petta. Both in different way and she’s not sure which one more until the end of book 3 when she finds out that one of Gales bombs kills her sister and she realizes she could never love him the same as she loves Petta. I wasn’t a fan of Gale until the last book. I don’t know what it is about him but I just didn’t think he was good for Katniss.

The districts rebel and try to take down the capital in the 2^nd book Petta and Kitniss get put back in the games but not with children but with other winners. At the end this was all a way for the rebels to save Katniss and Petta so they could start war on the capital but the capital got Petta and brainwashed him to hate Katniss

Katniss sister prim dies. I am not a fan of the way they do it in the book. It’s like mass confusion and then all of a sudden she dies and Kitniss is in the hospital. They are trying to kill president snow and the rebels show up and snows men are there then she dies. You are very confused for a few pages. Comes to find out the rebels President kills the kids to make it look like Snow did it so his people would hate him more. 

I LOVE LOVE LOVED the book but there was something about the last one that I didn’t love as much as the others. I can’t put my finger on what it is. It might be because Gale who I didn’t really care for the first 2 books I actually started to think he could be with Katniss. But I loved Petta and he took my heart in the first on and I wanted him to be with Katniss. Or it could be how Petta wasn’t himself until the end of the 3^rd book because of what the Capital did to him. Or it was just the fact that it was over and I was sad. I want books to go on forever and never end. Especially great ones like this one.

The Epilogue… I liked it really I did but I just wish she could of forgiven Gale.( so they could atleast be friends.) I know he did the one thing you can never forgive and he destroyed the one thing he had going for him which was protecting her family. But you really can never prove if his bomb killed Prim. But anyway Petta and Kitniss move back to district 12 and basically fall back in love (even though they never really fell out of love)

I left out a lot because I really want you to read it if you haven’t. There are a lot more wonderful characters that I didn’t even mention.

They are making it into a movie. It is set to come out next summer. If they stay true to this book at all then the movie will be wonderful!

one day....

Okay before I go on my rant I want to say this was one of the best well crafted books I have read in a long long time. It made me laugh and cry (really I cried) and you were mad at the characters and were overly happy for them when good things happened. I really liked the characters I thought they were original but I read some reviews on this books and other people thought they were whiney and self absorbed… but aren’t we all a little whiney and self absorbed. (Maybe not as much as these characters but that made me like them even more because they were real.)

Back story

Emma and Dexter or (Dex & Em, Em & Dex) met on July 15, 1988 in London, the day they graduated college. They spent the night tonight. You know they don’t have sex and they stayed up all night talking. This is when you realize that Dexter is an asshole that loves himself and knows how good looking he is. This book is focused around that day, July 15, every year. It tells what they are doing together or not, friends or not on this day every year. Which is a very unique cool concept that I love. Emma is really smart and witty but beautiful but she doesn’t know it. Dexter is cool, addictive, pretty and self centered. But together they are perfect. He makes her not depressed and worried about school and life and she makes him a good person. They love each other and it is the best t kind of love, they are best friends.

Spoiler!! Don't read if you want to read the book and don't want me to spoil parts. Pick up at the end,

Dex & Em stay in touch after that night. He is off traveling and she is writing/ acting in a play. They write letters well she writes letters he writes one sentence post cards. They see each other whenever they can. Dexter is in love with Emma but will only admit it when he’s drunk because he doesn’t want to settle down and have a girlfriend. Emma loves Dexter but doesn’t think she is good enough and doesn’t think he feels the same. So they remain best friends. Dexter is on a telly show. Ha and he meets tons of women and sees/ sleeps with most of them. Well Emma being the best t friend she is getting to meet all these women. They have one weekend where they go on vacation and they both almost tell each other but of course they don’t. Then they get back and Emma meets someone and so does Dex (well one of his many.) They stay best friends even though Emma boyfriend doesn’t like it. By this point Dex has a slight drinking problem. Dex and his mom are very close but a weird close well she gets cancer and dies.

 This hits Dex very hard. He stops being friends with most of all his friends but Emma. He is very rude and mean to Emma and finally after one dinner they stop being friends. She just can’t handle him anymore. Emma and her boyfriend break up and she and Dexter don’t really talk to many years. Then he meets Sylvie. She is beautiful and nothing like anyone he’s ever met before. He falls in love with her but deep down he knows she’s not Emma. Him and Emma become I wouldn’t say best friends again but they talk randomly. Until one of their friends weddings and Emma is there and so is Dex. They go off to a maze and talk and say they are sorry for everything. You think Emma is finally going to tell him she loves him and he tells her he is engaged. WOW! I know not only engaged but going to be a FATHER! 

Dex and Sylvie

Well they stay best friends after this and he becomes a father to a baby girl. Well things go real bad real quick for Dex and Sylvie and she starts being really mean and sleeping with one of his best friends. They get a divorce. Then it shows Dexter coming to Paris to stay with Emma. Come to find out the finally had sex!! Like 15 years after they first met. Jeez that’s a lot of anticipation. Woah. Anyways when he gets there he thinks they will finally be Dex and Em, Em and Dex a couple he is finally ready and guess what?? She is seeing someone. GEEZ! BUT she decides she would rather give Dex a try! And they WORK! Duh. They stay together then the next year they move in together. They are obviously happy. Everyone knows it. The next year they get married and his little girl loves Emma too. Then the next year on July 15 when they are looking to buy a house Emma dies. Yep that’s exactly how the author writes it too. She gets hit by a car and dies. Insert tears of confusion here.  Well then it goes back and forth from their first days together when they met to the years after she dies. It gives you a play by play of what they did those 2 days when they first met. And how he survives from his wife love of his life best friend dying. Well first year he goes kind of crazy next year he is dating and the last year he takes the girl he is dating and his little girl to the place where he first met Emma. Him and his little girl climb the hill the climbed and he turns out to be a great father and happy.

Okay are you confused? Literally this is how the book ends. I loved it! I was very confused and frustrated that after all that book she does and Dex ends up with someone else but hey you can’t help what life deals you. So that’s the book. It really is awesome!! Sorry if you don’t want to read it since I basically told you what happened. But I think you should because I left out A LOT!! I left out big stuff the only think I really told you is that they get together and Emma dies. So please read the book. It melts your heart and is a great love story! The author does a great job making you feel what they feel and he does a great job showing emotion. A lot during this book I was thinking in my head man I have felt this way. So PLEASE READ IT!!

But if you don’t it will be a movie. It’s coming out August 19l Anne Hathaway plays Emma. I know she wasn’t my first choice when I started reading this but by the end I can see her playing this part. I see her as Emma. And Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe) pays Dexter. I can’t wait for the movie!! Here is the trailer if you haven't seen it yet.

NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH

In case any of you have been living under a rock and didn't know that HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 came out Friday. It is the last installment of the Harry Potter franchise. It is based on the 7th book but they split it into 2 parts. Part one came out in November and Part 2 the weekend. I like many others went to Thursday midnight showing. And yes I had on my Harry Potter t-shirt and had a wand. Ha I'm a dork i know. The title of this is based on my favorite line from the movie and book.

 Back to the movie it was AMAZING!!! like ridiculously fantastic. It was by far the best movie yet! Now don't get me wrong I love love love the movies but the books are WAY better. I made the stupid mistake of recently reading the last HP book and so I was a little disappointed when they missed a few HUGE moments and added other things. But after griping about it for about an hour I got over it and realized how much I loved it. It really was the best movie yet.It had everything! You laughed, you got mad, it had action, and you cried.. Yes, I cried like a baby. Unlike part 1 This movie started off running and never slowed down. It was action after action after action. I loved it!!I cant wait to see it again! Here are some Harry Potter pictures....

Professor Mcgonagall Is a great in all the movies. She finally gets her moment in the sun in the final film. It is a great scene!!

This is the epilogue. Yes they did one. It was bitter sweet. But if they wouldn't of done it then I think there would of been alot of mad fans!

This is a part that's not in the book but I loved it. It is Harry and Voldemort fight scene. In the book its not much action just talking and but it the movie it is EVERYTHING! They are everywhere. 

The final battle where yes Voldemort dies.

Now this is Bellatrix and she is my FAVORITE!!!! I love love love her and all her evilness. I think she is amazing and I love when she was in the movies. She is Vordemorts biggest fan. And she gets killed by none other then Mrs. Wesley!! IT is great in the book and movie. 

This is when Harry decides he is going to go face Voldemort and dies.... Yes you will have to watch it to find out what happens....

This is Drako. He is the bad guy and you love to hate him. He has changed so much in all the books/movies. And in the last one he gets redemption. He does have a good heart.

Neville... He is a shy not so very good a magic until the final film and he is the HERO! I love him and have always loved him!! He is great!!

This is Serius  Harry's god father. He is also another one of my favorites who gets killed by my all time favorite Bellatrix!!

This is Snape. I can't even do him justice by writing about him so watch it or read it but he is the best character.

This is Neville all grown up!! HE IS HOT!!
